I am getting more and more antsy for the fashion film festival that will be hosted in La Jolla in April. In honor of this exciting event taking place, I'll be periodically sharing some of the interesting fashion films I come across. Enjoy!
This one comes all the way from a Swedish designer named Saga Eckman. She designs around the fun of dressing up, the woman's silhouette, and playful expression. Saga Lova's spring/summer 2010 collection is reflective of trends here too. Have you noticed every store window adorned with nautical themed apparel? She follows suit with reds, whites, blues, and stripes.

I attended the Nordstrom Spring 2010 Designer
Preview downtown at the New Children’s Museum. The event was truly a full
fledged fashion show with the spring lines from Donna Karen, Missoni, Versace,
Dries Van Noten, Jason Wu, Dolce and Gabbana, Michael Kors, Marni, Emilio
Pucci, Lanvin and Oscar de la Renta all strutting down the runway.
The venue, the attendees, the fashion show, the hors d’oeuvres, were all fabulous!

As the buzz continues over U.S.A dominating in the Winter Olympics, our own Shaun White has not only made a statement in snowboarding but a statement for sporty male fashion. When taking the gold in the February 17th Halfpipe competition, Shaun (as well as Seth Wescott) were seen sporting what appeared to be jeans. This laid back fashion appears to be something you would see on any casually dressed male in San Diego, but in fact they are actually made with waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX® fabric, designed by Burton. A look that embodies not only comfort but top of the line performance, Shaun tore up the slopes and brought home the gold medal.

Summer weather is HERE! It has been gorgeous all week, and the first thing I did Monday was go and get a mani-pedi. I KNOW I am not alone, and as I perused the salon’s collection of polish colors I was excited to see that my favorite nail polish company OPI has released a new palette for Spring 2010.
The collection is called Hong Kong, and the colors encapsulate the bright neon hues of the bustling Asian metropolitan. But any true OPI follower knows that choosing the perfect shade is not always about the color…it often boils down to the name of the polish. The brand is infamous for assigning namesakes as saucy as their respective color palettes, and this collection is no different.

Alright…here we go again, New York Fashion Week just ended and now we are heading straight into London Fashion week that starts tomorrow. I know that I was a little overwhelmed with SO MANY events and shows happening all last week. I happened across this fabulous site that breaks down all of the designers and the labels they will be presenting this week.
Check it out, it’s like the Cliff's Notes to London Fashion Week, I am so excited someone took the time to break it all down for us! What a wonderful resource.

Lacoste is most famous for their tennis shirts, but the Fall 2010 collection was far from country club attire. The knitwear collection makes me want to curl up at the snow lodge with a cup of cocoa! The bright colors in the collection; hunter green, cranberry, and amber keep the line cheerful so we can smile all through next winter!

MIK CIRE by Eric Kim showed Thursday evening in the Promenade. I posted the video, because although the heavy jackets and blazers shown are not really necessary here in San Diego, Kim’s take on men’s fashion is certainly alternative. The styling is incredibly modern and tailored especially when you consider that the garments shown are truly “street clothes”. They’re pieces that bring to mind New York or Chicago’s frigid weather, everyday men’s clothes that combine practicality and innovative styling. Very interesting!

Steven Cox and Daniel Silver are the designers behind
the New York based men’s line Duckie Brown. The two men aim to “dress men
beautifully” and they certainly achieved this through their Fall 2010
collection. The bold color choices, impeccable hand tailoring, and interesting choice
of footwear kept the styling fun!

Farah Angsana is known for doing bridal and couture
gowns, and her Fall 2010 show did not disappoint. The line in ultra feminine
with accents of sequins and luxe fur, it reads as ultra chic. She showed Thursday
evening in the Salon.

American Designer Richard Chai debuted his Fall 2010
collection Thursday morning in the Promenade. Chai is a former Marc by Marc
Jacobs designer who has since launched his own, self named label. The Fall 2010
line is reminiscent of 80’s knit patterns with long lean lines. Not the
shoulder pad throw-back fad we have become used to, something new, something
fresh, and surprisingly stunning.
